General Information

Parent and Family Engagement Compact

Upper Little Caillou will convene an annual meeting, at a convenient time, to which all parents of participating children shall be invited and encouraged to attend, to inform parents of their opportunities to help develop our schoolwide plan and to explain the requirements of this compact and the right of the parents to be involved. Upper Little Caillou will offer a flexible number of meetings, such as meetings in the morning and evening.

Upper Little Caillou will involve parents, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way, in the planning, review, and improvement of programs, including the planning, review, and improvement of the school parent and family engagement policy and jointly develop the schoolwide program plan under section 1114(b), except where Upper Little Caillou has in place a process for involving parents in the joint planning and design of the school’s programs, the school may use that process, if such process includes an adequate representation of parents of participating children.

Upper Little Caillou will provide parents of participating children timely information about programs, a description and explanation of the curriculum in use at the school, the forms of academic assessment used to measure student progress, and the achievement levels up the state academic standards, and if requested by parents, opportunities for regular meeting to formulate suggestions and to participate,as appropriate, in decisions relating to the education of their children, and respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.  We will use our PTC as a parent advisory board to address any needed revisions to our schoolwide plan based on an analysis of our spring survey results.  If you are not satisfied with our schoolwide plan, you can submit changes directly to the school leadership team.

Upper Little Caillou will work with parents for all children served under this school-parent compact that outlines how parents, the entire school staff, and students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and parents will build and develop a partnership to help children achieve the State's high academic standards.

You can participate in several different ways:

  1. Attend monthly Parent Teacher Committee meetings.

  2. Attend parent/teacher conferences.

  3. Sign and review weekly test folders, progress reports, report cards to monitor your child’s progress.  Teachers are available for conferences during their planning times.

  4.  Weekly Test Folders go home every Thursday with your child.  Please review, sign, and return the folder.  This is an excellent opportunity to have discussions with your child about their performance in school with academics and behavior.  To ensure 2-way communication, you can send messages to your teachers through this folder.

  5. Volunteer to assist with school events.  Events can be viewed on monthly calendars, which are sent home at the beginning of each month with your child.

  6. Volunteer in the parent workroom.
